Here’s a lovely mantra that gives off the “reverence for Mother” vibes. Kartikeya is another name for Skandamata (btw).
I’ll be honest. Feelings have emerged. I’m doused in them. They are buzzing all over my body. I feel drunk. It’s blurring my vision. But it’s just sensations. And as a tantrika, I embrace this. But it is a struggle to type - jaja and I may need to do an audio transmission this evening. And so be it. It will be part of my worship tonight. It is 9 nights of the Goddess, after all. The feelings must be felt and integrated. But wow, am I excited to do the Shero Fest power breath today at the workshop!
When celebrating Navratri with the Navdurgas, it is Skandamata who has the place of the 5th day/night of Navratri. She, like other forms, is also Parvati. The legacy of stories continues between Parvati and Shiva (as I mentioned in the workshop yesterday).
Mata translates to mother. She is the mother of Skanda, who himself is worshipped, and so she is celebrated as his mother (like Mary for Jesus).
Part of the reason I am struggling today is honestly with “her son”. I will address this at the workshop and in the audio transmission tonight. Skanda, Murugan, or Kartikeya is the God of War.
Anyway! Her color is yellow. From Pragativadi.com “Yellow signifies the energy and enthusiasm of a new dawn, with the promise of a fresh beginning.”
Here’s Skandamata’s uplifting mantra from Chant Central.
