Once upon a time, I was very materially minded. Upbringing and culture had installed an overemphasis on the value of success.
To gloss or not to gloss? That is a question. A question then I would have answered yes. A question now I hold open but currently say no to. Let me create for the sake of creation alone. And joyously. May my creation be imbued with joy, not lack, not suffering.
After my initial awakening (as it is a process and journey I am still on), I never had to wonder about purpose. It felt like I had been assigned a mission, and so I set off for it. I never had to suffer that, as some people do. There are other sufferings that come along with feeling/ knowing you are on a mission.
But what I love about nondual teachings is this.
What if we are not on a mission? What if the only mission to be had is to fully wake in remembrance of our full potential which is available to us in every moment? What if that included appreciation of what is considered mundane and recognizing it all as sacred?
What if in doing so we realized this is all about play? What if there’s nothing to do and no time to do it in? What if all “purpose” is fanciful fiction? What if there is no destination because there are no endings to the story? How would this change the trajectory of the current experiences?
What if the humility brought by integrating this information actually allows us to relax, enjoy life, and fulfill our purpose through undiluted expression; living and being, and creating and acting for the sake of Life itSelf?
