The world gone paraquack

*Note / revision. This post was recorded “last night”. In that tired state, the correct name for the pesticide referred to in this episode was lost in the recesses of the mind. This morning it was recalled! The pesticide referred to is Paraquat. In just doing a simple search, one can find that it is on an “emergency” page for the CDC. It is also stated that although the U.S. (and Costa Rica) still use it, that it is being phased out of the European Union, China, and Brazil. This is from a press release in 2019 from the Center for Biological Diversity claiming the EPA, during that administration, was conveniently ignoring evidence of its link to Parkinson’s disease. Why are we using this? That release claims it is due to the “superweeds” which have developed in resistance to the over-usage of Bayer’s (previously Monsanto’s) “round up” which contains glysphosate.

Here are my favorite paragraphs from that release:

Despite this paraquat use in the United States is higher than it’s been in the past 25 years, with use rising nearly 200 percent since 2009. The increase has been triggered by its use on superweeds that have developed resistance to glyphosate, commonly sold as Bayer’s Roundup.

U.S. farmers currently use more than 8 million pounds of paraquat each year, including on peanuts, citrus, wheat, soy, corn, almonds, artichokes, garlic, pears, strawberries, grapes and sweet potatoes.

“It only takes a teaspoon of paraquat to kill a person, so it’s clear 8 million pounds of this stuff is doing extreme harm to our health and the environment,” said Donley (senior scientist for the Center for Biological Diversity).

On top of all this, last night an interpretation of the Hopi Prophecy of the 5th world was sent to me and read. Not to elicit fear but hold on tigers, time to tap into our hearts.

**Subtitle has also been revised to add the term “paraquack” (which of course is not a real term). There are several reasons for this, at least couple anyway, for you to ponder. Have a nice day!
